The indigenous people of this country, and throughout the world, respect the web of connection and honor their relationships with all beings. On this Indigenous People’s Day I am sharing the prayer that has hung in my bedroom since I first learned it many years ago, the Haudenosaunee Thanksgiving Address Greetings to the Natural World. I’m currently reading Becoming Kin: An Indigenous Call to Unforgetting the Past and Reimagining Our Future by Patty Krawec and feel that it is a treasure that needs to be shared, and read widely. She generously offers wisdom and thoughtful guidance for healing our relationships with the earth, the land and each other.
Upcoming Events
Next Sunday at Full Circle in Gardiner there’s an opportunity to gather for a talk from high school senior Roxy deney-Baghat on forest ecology and myccrorhizal networks. I can’t wait to hear her share her extensive research on this topic. I’ll be making and sharing my Reishi Chai recipe and will give a brief talk on the health benefits of this amazing brew. If you are in the area, please join us!
I’m sending off packages of herbs and supplies to our Appalachian community in North Carolina and Tennessee to support with the devastation that Hurricane Helene left in her wake. If you are interested in helping please email me back.
I’ll be back at Full Circle on November 3rd with Kristin Misik from the Sunset Healing Collective . We will be facilitating a workshop to benefit relief efforts for those in Asheville and the surrounding towns. I’ll be sharing functional medicine and herbal practices for vibrant health and radiant skin. Kristin will demonstrate how she works with traditional Chinese medicine cupping, micro-needling and guasha massage. Email me back for that as well and I’ll get you the link! We’d love you to join us.
Wishing you warm mugs of tea, soup in crockpots, safety and connection. Until Samhain- xo Ashley
