May Day Wellness Rituals

Happy May 1st, aka Beltane

May Day has long been honored as a celebration of vitality, fertility, and the living beauty of the earth. It is especially potent this year because today is also the Flower Full Moon in Taurus. Many of you are likely feeling a bit frazzled and frayed and needing some grounding, and this is a time to give yourself that nourishment, and what better way to spend time in nature?

Violets dot the lawn and woods with bright purple blossoms, and today I left my phone inside and let myself walk with no other goal than to fill my basket with violets. I bought some local honey this morning, and I’ll put those sweet blossoms in the honey to infuse, a magical medicine for cooling a hot and irritating cough.

This weekend is a beautiful moment to slow down and savor the flowers and all the green surrounding us

  • Eat a meal with full presence, including whole, mineral-rich foods (bonus for wild foods like nettles, violet and dandelion leaves).
  • Sip a calming herbal infusion (rose, chamomile, lemon balm) and let your toes wiggle in the grass.
  • Reflect on what has come into fruition since early spring, what feels steady and what feels complete.
  • Prioritize rest and soothe your senses with touch, birdsong, warmth, beauty, and rhythm

There’s a quiet wisdom in this moment: not everything that grows needs to be rushed. Some things deepen, stabilize, and become more beautiful with time. Take time to breathe, journal, and breathe into all the beauty that spring brings.

Next Free Class is June 8th at 11:45 at People’s Place in Kingston
